WHAT IS THIS MOD? The K Smith Modpack features 6 new custom gamemodes that put a spin on the usual Death Road format. Last Dinks on Earth • Start off with a party of four in this 15 day journey. However, trading camps and road recruits no longer appear! • Visit a Familiar Neighborhood to fine tune your starting roster, or go at it solo for an extra challenge! • Keep your party alive as you'll encounter 60% extra zombies as well as cruel bandits. 10 Day Siege • Every day in this 10 day journey features 2-3 sieges. Survive each day and you'll be rewarded with FOOD. • Visit a trading camp or a city at the start of each day. Buy yourself some training at a camp, or scavenge for supplies in a city. • The difficulty rises each day offering larger hordes and harder sieges. The further you make it, the better your reward! Border Mountie Simulator • Take the role of a border Mountie and help survivors make it to Canada as you fight waves and waves of zombies! • You'll earn ZOMBO POINTS the more survivors you rescue and the more waves you survive. Go for a high score! • Survivors are completely randomized! You may even encounter Familiar Characters who will join your cause or Rare Characters who will boost your paycheck. Timer Mode • Short Trip to Heck gameplay but with an on-screen timer. The timer is accurate to the millisecond! • Your best time is saved to the gamemode selection screen. Go for a new Personal Best and brag to your friends about it. • Become a speedrunning expert by beating time milestones. How fast can YOU make it to Canada? Hardcore Mode • Death is permanent! Start off with a party of four, but you will not be able to hire new recruits! • The Familiar Neighborhood features ALL of your familiar characters. Assemble the perfect party or just choose your favorites. • Some recruits have been given easter eggs for trying to recruit them. Can you find them all? Chaos Mode • Death Road to Canada - Chaos Edition! Survive a road trip with chaotic effects that can change almost anything about the game! • There are many types of effects to watch out for like stat changes, forced events, item spawns, and more! • Want to personalize the chaos experience? Visit the Chaos Camp to customize almost everything there is to Chaos Mode! The K Smith Modpack also features various custom cheevos for beating custom gamemodes, reaching certain milestones, and finding hidden easter eggs! Whether you play casually or are a Death Road veteran, there is a lot of content for you to enjoy. HOW TO INSTALL If you need any help with the installation process, feel free to message me on Discord (see CONTACT INFO). 1) Navigate to your Steam folder (by default: C:\Program Files\Steam\) 2) Open the "steamapps" folder 3) Open the "common" folder 4) Make a backup of the "DeathRoadToCanada" folder - This ensures you have a vanilla version of the game you can restore during uninstallation. 5) Open the "DeathRoadToCanada" folder 6) Copy the "deathforth" folder from the "KSMP" folder into the "DeathRoadToCanada" folder - If you are prompted to overwrite files, accept all of them 7) Congrats! The K Smith Modpack is now installed! HOW TO UNINSTALL The method for uninstalling depends on whether or not you have a backup of the vanilla "DeathRoadToCanada" folder. If you DO have a backup, refer to the section "If you DO have a backup..." If you DO NOT have a backup, don't worry! Refer to the section "If you DO NOT have a backup..." The K Smith Modpack comes with various custom files that stick around after uninstalling. These files WILL NOT affect a vanilla version of Death Road to Canada, but I have included instructions for removing them if you so wish. Refer to the section REMOVING RESIDUAL MOD FILES for more information. It is recommended you delete any and all game slots after uninstalling the K Smith Modpack. Game slots with modded content may not play correctly after uninstalling this mod, even if they are running vanilla gamemodes. Custom characters, vanilla gamemode statistics, Zombo Town upgrades, and earned vanilla cheevos are unaffected. Once again, feel free to message me on Discord (see CONTACT INFO) if you need any help. If you DO have a backup of the vanilla "DeathRoadToCanada" folder 1) Navigate to your Steam folder (by default: C:\Program Files\Steam\) 2) Open the "steamapps" folder 3) Open the "common" folder 4) Rename or delete the "DeathRoadToCanada" folder - This should be the folder you modified when installing the K Smith Modpack. - NOTE: This folder only contains game files. Your save data will be unaffected. 5) Restore your vanilla backup of the "DeathRoadToCanada" folder - Ensure that the folder is named "DeathRoadToCanada" or else Steam won't be able to find it! 6) Congrats! The K Smith Modpack is now uninstalled! 7) OPTIONAL: Go to the section REMOVING RESIDUAL MOD FILES to remove any remaining custom files. If you DO NOT have a backup of the vanilla "DeathRoadToCanada" folder 1) Open Steam and go to your Library 2) Right click Death Road to Canada and select Properties 3) Go to the Local Files tab and click Verify Integrity of Game Files 4) Steam will automatically replace all modified game files 5) Congrats! The K Smith Modpack is now uninstalled! 6) OPTIONAL: Go to the section REMOVING RESIDUAL MOD FILES to remove any remaining custom files. REMOVING RESIDUAL MOD FILES The K Smith Modpack includes custom game files and generates custom save files that might not be removed during uninstallation. It is OPTIONAL to remove these files. They WILL NOT affect a vanilla version of Death Road to Canada. To remove the custom game files, refer to the section "Removing Custom Game Files" To remove the custom save files, refer to the section "Removing Custom Save Files" Removing Custom Game Files NOTE: If you restored a vanilla backup of the "DeathRoadToCanada" folder, you DO NOT need to follow this section. 1) Navigate to your Steam folder (by default: C:\Program Files\Steam\) 2) Open the "steamapps" folder 3) Open the "common" folder 4) Open the "DeathRoadToCanada" folder 5) Open the "deathforth" folder 6) If you see a folder named "modsaves", delete that folder 7) Open the "events" folder 8) If you see a folder named "custom", delete that folder 9) Congrats! You have removed all custom K Smith Modpack game files! Removing Custom Save Files WARNING: If you delete the K Smith Modpack's custom save files, you will lose all custom gamemode wins, all milestone statistics, and all earned custom cheevos. Please reconsider deleting your custom save files if you plan on revisiting the K Smith Modpack. WARNING: This section will have you deleting files related to save data. PLEASE CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. Failure to follow the instructions may result in losing custom characters, vanilla gamemode statistics, Zombo Town upgrades, and/or earned vanilla cheevos. 1) Navigate to your AppData folder - For Windows, this can be done by pressing WINDOWS KEY + R and typing in %AppData% - For other operating systems (or if you are just not sure), search up "How to open appdata [OS]" where [OS] is your operating system. 2) Open the "Roaming" folder 3) Open the ".madgarden" folder 4) Open the "DR2C" folder - PROCEED WITH CAUTION. This folder contains all save data related to Death Road to Canada. 5) Locate and delete the file "ksmithmodpack.custom" - This file contains gamemode statistics related to Last Dinks on Earth, 10 Day Siege, and Border Mountie Simulator 6) Locate and delete the file "timermode.custom" - This file contains gamemode statistics related to Timer Mode 7) Locate and delete the file "hardcore.custom" - This file contains gamemode statistics related to Hardcore Mode 8) Locate and delete the file "ksmithmodpack.cheevos" - This file contains any custom K Smith Modpack cheevos you have earned. - NOTE: This file may not exist if you have not earned any custom K Smith Modpack cheevos. - WARNING: DO NOT confuse this file with the vanilla file "cheevos.save" or YOU WILL LOSE all of your earned vanilla cheevos! 9) Locate and delete the file "chaos-last-settings.custom" - This file contains the last settings used for Chaos Mode - NOTE: This file may not exist if you have never played Chaos Mode 10) Locate and delete the file "chaos-custom-settings.custom" - This file contains the Custom Settings saved for Chaos Mode - NOTE: This file may not exist if you have never saved Custom Settings for Chaos Mode 11) DO NOT DELETE ANY OTHER FILES 12) Congrats!
